Page 1 of 2 It only takes one decision to change your life. For many, it’s simply the decision that they believe, at the time, is best. For Brian Courtney Wilson, that decision was relocating for love.
Wilson, a Chicago native, moved to Houston to be with the woman he loved. Once there, fate quickly took over and Wilson began fulfilling God’s plan for his life. He joined a local church and eventually started writing and recording songs for Pastor Rudy Rasmus. The rest, as they say, is history.
He is now enjoying the success of his debut album, Just Love. The song selections not only showcase Wilson’s musical talents but also his desire to encourage everyone to just love. The CD has been selected as part of Wal-Mart’s Gospel Music Heritage Month promotion and Wilson is busy promoting it with national tour dates.
As for the decision that changed his life, Wilson says he was put on the path of his purpose. Read on to learn more about this man of God.
Gospel Highlights: It seems that God's vision for your life really began to manifest after you moved to Houston and subsequently joined Windsor Village United Methodist Church. What prompted the move to Houston?
Brian Courtney Wilson: Love. I was in a relationship at the time with the woman I thought I would marry. The relationship did not work out but I was put on the path of my purpose so I remain grateful.
Gospel Highlights: Your Pastor, Rudy Rasmus, introduced you to Mathew Knowles, right?
Brian Courtney Wilson: Yes.
Gospel Highlights: Were you contemplating a professional gospel music career when he introduced you to Knowles?
Brian Courtney Wilson: When I met Rudy, I knew God had a plan for my life that was still being revealed. I knew I could sing and write songs. I knew I wanted to work in ministry. Rudy was working on a book/album project and needed songs to complete it. I was able to oblige and the music got Mat's attention. To that point a recording career seemed like a dream. Now it feels like a part of God's dream for my life coming true.
Gospel Highlights: Tell us about your debut album, Just Love.
Brian Courtney Wilson: The album is about how love can put you on track. It covers a multitude of sins. It is also about how the search for love, validation and acceptance in the wrong places can take you off track.
Gospel Highlights: What is the one thing you want people to get from this album?
