“So the last will be first, and the first last.  For many are called, but few chosen” (Matthew 16:20).

This familiar passage of scripture may well be the very insignia that Didymus has etched in the innermost parts of his spirit.  His sole purpose in life is the edifying of a broken people that need to hear a word during the breaking point of their lives.  But, in order to deliver that word, his own life had to become shatterproof, and the road was difficult at first.

A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Didymus (born Chevist Johnson) suffered the hard way to gauge a word that will make someone else's journey easier.  A life of gangs, crime and other depravities gave him a run for his money for a season in his life.  As he decided to trade in his gang signs and gun play for a word from God, the ministry that was in him all along slowly took shape.  Once the shape took on a form of its own, even his enemies began to heed the advise that came from Didymus' soul.

Today, as a young man sold out for the gospel of Jesus Christ, he is readying a bevy of activities, chief amongst those relaunching his imprint, Souled Out Entertainment, and recording a series of new tracks for some upcoming mixed tapes that will most surely burn up the streets.  In a recent conversation, Didymus briefly discusses those projects and the ministry that has given him the greatest satisfaction of his life.

Gospel Highlights: Tell us what you are working on currently and where your career has taken you to this point.

Didymus: I have been doing a whole lot of transitioning, man.  I am in the midst of relaunching Souled Out Entertainment.  It will be a little while before it gets full force, up and running.  I am starting from scratch, man.  I am going to recruit some artists to the roster, and I am pulling myself more away from the actual artist part in Souled Out Entertainment.  Meanwhile, I have hooked with YNJ Entertainment and Twink from the Sacred Apparel clothing line.  We have been partnering up for some years now, and they have been doing some music lately.  We figured it would be most beneficial to the both of us if we joined teams together.  So, we merged both [labels] together, so I am actually an artist on YNJ now.  I will use Souled Out Entertainment to launch my own artists.

Gospel Highlights: So, your whole intention is to become a CEO as well as an artist?

Didymus: It is a beautiful thing, man.  We have a whole lot of different connects, and I have been trying to do all this stuff through Souled Out all by myself.  Now, being with YNJ, I can focus more on just developing myself as an artist and [making] good music.  Someone else can take care of the marketing, promotions and all that type of stuff.  And at the same time, I can get other artists and develop them for my label.
